What a great picture. Yes I think you are right about it being a Hairy, because of beak length. But I would have to compare it to pictures of my bird book to be sure.
This picture is downright soulful. Religious overtones even. I mean if birds could pray is this what they would look like?
I thought a bit soulful myself.
I also especially like it because it evokes a cool, damp forest. The exact opposite of what it feels like in Quincy right now.
