Some days are like this

You know. The kind where you don’t want to get out of bed to face the world? Or more likely work?

This Great Grey Owl in the Teton National Park, Wy was sitting out a rain storm. They don’t have oil on their feathers like other raptors so it is hard for them to fly. They will sit tight and pull in their feathers waiting for weather to pass and can dry out.

My hope was to find him hunting in typical great grey style. Oh well, You get what you get and you be glad for it.

Great Grey

Be specific! Hope to see one close up hunting and catching rodents in perfect early morning or evening light! Not all balled up soaking wet in the rain lol! Hope you also get snow.

they were between the pond at Moose Wilson over look and down the road south where the beavers are. Photos of them all throughout that area. Don’t know if still there in the fall.

What a handsome, sleepy owl. However, it was raining and all his food was probably staying out of the weather also.

I know this guy! He was in a deep sleep and just trying not to get his feathers all soaked.

Hope he or she got dried out in short order. Magnificent bird, whether flying or resting!
