Orcas Island, Washington…getting there

You have a few options. Ferry, float plane, small plane, sail boat. We chose Float plane! Never been on one. I have to say it was incredibly smooth take off and landing. Flying low over the islands was such a treat.

I really enjoyed these pictures. I guess Orca Island is one of or near the San Juan Islands. We visited Seattle one January for a business conference and had a blast exploring after. We hitched a ride on a seaplane which was taking bags of developed film (ah those were the days!) to residents of the San Juans since they can’t get to a camera shop (at least then) all that easily. It was freezing but gorgeous. We didn’t see any whales on that ride but did see a nuclear submarine on the way. I actually love the Seattle area!!
